IST Elementary Music

My name is Adam Thompson and I come from San Diego, California in the USA.   I have been a Music Teacher for 23 years.  I have taught in two other International Schools, the International School of Tanganyika in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and The International School of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.  I was first at this school in 2000 to 2002 and returned to teach music here once again in the summer of 2010. Other teaching positions have been in California, Washington and Colorado in the USA.   I have a BA in Music Education from Humboldt State University and an MA in Music Education from the University of Washington with an emphasis in Ethnomusicology.  Having always been a performing musician, including now in Tianjin, has given me a professional experience that I feel is essential for being the best quality of Music Teacher.  I was recently remarried in July of 2010 and in the photo below are my three children – who all attended this school ten years ago – Thea, Kobe and Arie and my lovely new wife Nancy Barbour.  I am very happy to be back living in China and teaching at IST.
