We have been having a lot of fun in Kindergarten!  One of the highlights has been Sydney and Saige’s belated 6th birthday party .. 6 chicks! They enjoyed their ‘real’ birthday in the USA but we have to say we loved the very special pop cake today! Here are few photos of what we have been up too.

It was lovely to see Kavish at school today. We got such a wonderful surprise to see him. We had time to award him his 100 reading books certificate. Congratulations Kavish! We took a photo with him, he watched the special PE lesson and then enjoyed some popcorn and fun with his friends. Sadly, he can’t come to school yet but he will join us for the Kinder Assembly and the Spring Show.

Today we went to the science lab and did an experiment to rescue an animal from an oil spill. The children tried a variety of materials to try and get all the oil out of the water. Most found a sponge worked the best. It was a great way for the children to find out just how difficult it is to remove oil from the ocean and how real ocean animals might feel if has to swim in it. Be sure to ask the children about what they observed!

Today we found out just how big a blue whale is. We used trundle wheels to measure in meters how big a variety of ocean animals are. We compared their lengths. We discovered dolphins are 2-3 meters, killer whales are 6meters, whale sharks are 15meters, giants squids are 18 meters and the mighty blue whale, 30 meters in length. Here we are in action!
