Today we put our learning into context by discussing banks. What a bank does? Why people put their money in banks? How interest in calculated? The idea of compound interest.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The more the students can contextualize abstract ideas the more connections they make with the everyday world and the more learning will take place.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Attached is the power point we used and a copy of their homework.</p>

<p>This was new to many students, so today during mathematics the students played an online game to revise the terms.  Some students will need to continue to practice this.  Here are the links to the games for them to play tonight as revision. In different countries the teaching regarding Pi and measuring circles is completed at differing grade levels an example being in the English National Curriculum Pi is not taught until Grade 7.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As we are coming towards the end of the year there are so many things to complete and celebrate. It is a very busy time of year with so much going on.</p>
<ul>
<li>Please could all permission slips and notification letters be returned to school as soon as possible. Thank you to all parents for returning the &#8216;intent to return&#8217; letter. We are waiting on a couple of MYP language option letters and sleep over permission slips.</li>
<li>Well done to the Elementary school football teams for their excellent performance at last week&#8217;s ISCOT tournament. Congratulations to the girls team who won their league scoring 12 goals and conceding none.</li>
<li>In maths we have been continuing our work on Algebra and in Unit of Inquiry we have started our transitions unit. Thank you to Hilma who completed extra work at home and shared her interesting elevator method to simplify equations.</li>
