Taking a glimpse at Nursery life!
Today was a perfect day for a field trip! We took the school bus to SongJiang Country Club to see a horse show and stroll through the botanical gardens. It was a great way for the children to see living things and how to take good care of them. Here are a few pictures from the trip!
Next Thursday, May 23rd will be the last Thursday Night Live of the school year. It is a fundraiser event for a teacher who used to work at IST who is now battling cancer.
Nursery students have been practicing for their performance in the Spring Show, “Lighten Up!” scheduled for Wednesday 22. May at 6:30 pm. Please have a look at the flyer below for information about arrival times and buses. The students will be provided with a t-shirt and a headband to wear for the performance. We ask that they wear shorts of any color, and trainers or sandals with a strap. No flip-flops or Crocs, please!
The children practiced all week to help host the NPK Assembly on Friday. The children confidently chanted the days of the week, sang their song, counted how many days in April, and recited a few nursery rhymes they have learned over the year! Great job, Nursery!
In Nursery we have started our last Unit of Inquiry, Sharing the Planet. So far we have inquired into what is living and nonliving by asking the qualifying questions to determine whether something is living. Some questions are: Can it move by itself? Can it eat food and drink water? Can it grow? Can it have babies? Can it go pee and poop? In the coming weeks we will inquire into what living things need, and our responsibility for the well-being of other living things. Here are some pictures of the children role-playing in the farm area and vets office. Enjoy!
Tomorrow (Friday, April 19th) IST is celebrating Earth Day. There will be an Assembly to kick of the day followed by a House activity, so please send your child to school in his/her Dragon House T-shirt. Please don’t forget to bring your “Things on Wheels” and we will be having a picnic lunch so please send a lunch that doesn’t require heating up! Happy Earth Day!
Last week was a very busy week! We welcomed a new student to the class, Yun Hyeon. Yes, another boy, and he has settled in nicely! That makes 15 boys and 3 girls! We spent a lot of time preparing for Student Lead Conferences, which was the highlight of the week. The children were so happy to show you their work and what they’ve learned in Nursery! Here are a few pictures! Today we began our final Unit of Inquiry in Nursery “Sharing the Planet: Living Things”. The children will be learning to identify living things and their requirements. Where is a great place to learn about this, you ask? On the farm! The Nursery Farm! Stay tuned for picutres from Nursery’s farm.
Dear Parents,
Nursery has been scheduled to take class photos on Monday, April 15th in the morning. Please send your child to school looking their best and we will try to keep them neat and clean for photo taking! See you tomorrow!
