Mrs Wretham’s Reading Group: The children are really enjoying working their way through the novel study of “Charlotte’s Web” and discussing various aspects of what is happening to the respective characters as the setting and plot changes. Equally important they are always keen to predict what will happen next before we even read on!!!
Reading: Each day it is such a pleasure to listen to the children read aloud and with appropriate expression as they gain more confidence themselves as well as from listening to others read aloud.
Writing: As April is officially “Poetry Month” the children have been reading various poems as well as writing some of their own. They particularly enjoyed writing and then illustrating some “Shape Poems”.
Maths:
This week we have been continuing to work on our NUMBER topic. In school and at home the students will continue to practice and improve their multiplication and division skills – both in terms of accuracy and speed as well as solving word problems. Please reinforce this at home and periodically “test” their skills.
As we continue to practice number facts and skills we will be working on solving multi-step word problems. This week the children’s homework will sometimes be focused on this aspect.
*Please offer help and reinforcement at home if needed!
As was posted earlier, here are our Grade 3 runners up with their certificates from our Earth Day Logo Competition.
Today all Grade 3 children will bring home very important information regarding a field trip that we are taking the children on next week to visit some caves as part of our Unit of Inquiry on Earth Systems.
Please look for this information in your child’s book bag. We have a few places left on the bus if there are any parents who would like to join us on this trip.
Regards,
Rosemary Wretham
Dear Grade 3 Parents,
This morning more sponsorship money came in from some Gr 3 children which now takes the grand total raised by Grade 3 up to 3,925 RMB. How amazing is that? I am very proud of the tremendous effort everyone has made. Thank you very much!
Dear Grade 3 Parents,
Thank you so much for participating in our recent Earth Day activities. Many of you seem to have enjoyed the walk-a-thon as much as the children did. I am very happy to say that in total the Grade 3 children have managed to raise the amazing amount of 3,175 RMB which is absolutely fantastic!
It was a shame about the weather on the day, however everyone just seemed to take it in their stride! The children seemed to enjoy the indoor picnics in the playroom which was great to see.
